Thank you to all who have donated so far!
Update: July 1st-
Our parish St. Vincent de Paul conference would like to say a heartfelt “Thank you” for the generous support we received for our food pantry! With the donations of many parishioners and the receipt of several grants, we have met our fundraising goal for the renovation of the garage to better serve our food pantry clients. We expect the renovation to be completed in the next few weeks and look forward to moving our pantry to the new location. We are still accepting donations to cover panty operating expenses and to provide emergency financial support for your neighbors. Thanks again!
In case you missed our presentation at Masses on June 2/3rd, here is a video which explains the need for our project and our current plans. Thank you for your generosity!
To donate by check: Make checks payable to “St Vincent de Paul,” memo: Food Pantry Project
Drop checks in collection basket, poor boxes, or send to the rectory. Thank you!
In Brief:
Our St. Julia Parish St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) food pantry has been experiencing a steady increase in the number of Weston and Lincoln residents seeking food at our food pantry. The current location of the food pantry, the “Cry Room” of St. Joseph Church, is now far too small to accommodate the increase in clients.
Fortunately, a 2-car garage on St. Joseph Church property is available to become our new food pantry location. After remodeling into a space suitable for a food pantry, the garage will be heated, accessible, and large enough for extensive permanent food-storage shelves and a large freezer and refrigerator. Our clients will soon have more choices of food including fresh items such as eggs, milk, and cheese.
Remodeling the garage into a food pantry is underway and, thanks to the expertise and generous donation of time and material by Parishioner Chris Knollmeyer, we will move the pantry into the garage later this summer.
The Codman Trust of Lincoln has granted us $15,000. They have requested that we raise $20,000 to match the grant. In order to achieve this, we will hold a fundraiser on the first weekend of June. Help us reach our goal…to ensure that nobody in Lincoln and Weston goes hungry or lacks food security!
