Good News! New Pastors Assigned to St. Julia Parish Effective June 24, 2026
Archbishop Henning has appointed Father Scott Euvrard as the next pastor of St. Julia Parish (St. Julia and St. Joseph churches).
Currently Father Euvrard is Pastor of St. Anthony Parish in Cohasset and St. Mary in Hull. Additionally, Father Euvrard will serve as Episcopal Vicar of the West Region of the Archdiocese of Boston. Father Euvrard will begin this assignment on June 24, 2026. Read more about Father Euvrard below in his personal introduction.
In addition, for a few weeks prior to Fr. Euvrard’s arrival, Father Paul Soper, Secretary for Ministerial Personnel of the Archdiocese, will administer the parish where he will remain in residence to assist in its pastoral care.
Most recently, Archbishop Henning has also assigned Fr. Giris Azize (one of five deacons ordained as Priests on Saturday, May 16th) to St. Julia Parish effective June 24th as well. A Brief Introduction from Fr. Scott Euvrard
I grew up as the oldest of six children in the small, north central Massachusetts town of Athol. When Bishop Bernard Flanagan, then the Bishop of Worcester Diocese, visited Athol, he would always (always!) say, “Athol is in the middle of Catholic!” cATHOLic! With the Miller’s River running through Athol, it was the ideal spot for factories. There were two major tool-making factories when I was growing up, Starrett Tools and Union Twist Drill. Starrett Tools, where my father, mother, and brother worked, is still there. The town has a big canoe race (The River Rat Race, 300+ canoes) every April. I was never in a canoe for the race, but was in the accompanying parade as a member of the marching band for Athol High School, from where I graduated in 1980. I’ll save you from doing the math; I’ll soon be 64-years-old!
My dad, Leon, died in September 2014, and my oldest sister Lynne, who had been living in Madrid, Spain for 30+ years, died on April 27, 2025. My mom, Gloria, still lives in Athol, and my siblings (Jeanne, Craig, Mark, and Dawne) live either in north-central Massachusetts or south-western New Hampshire. I’ve lost track of how many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews I have!
I went to Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, to study music education. I play (sadly not in many years) the french horn, or the horn as the purists would say. They granted me a Bachelor of Music Education Degree, summa cum laude, in 1984. After teaching music in public schools and the South Shore YMCA for a few years, I entered St. John Seminary (where Bishop Reed will now be the Rector!) in the fall of 1989. I was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ for the Archdiocese of Boston on May 21, 1994. I have served parishes in Lowell, Lynn, Needham, and Sharon, and parish collaboratives in Amesbury-Salisbury and Cohasset-Hull.
Though sad to leave my current assignment, I am energized by my new assignments as Pastor for St. Julia Parish and Episcopal Vicar for the West Region of the Archdiocese of Boston. The West region includes 40 cities and towns and 60 parishes. 7 of the parishes have schools. I can’t wait to meet everyone!
