LENTEN PRAYER CIRCLE: Many of you signed up in the past years for the Lenten Prayer Circle. Hopefully you will sign up again this year and encourage your friends to sign up too. Here’s how it works.
- You sign up on the sheet provided at both Churches or pick a date and email me and I will sign you up.
- Place you intentions in the prayer basket at either Church, submit a request online, or email me and I will add it to the list.
- I will email you the list of prayer intentions (which increases as Lent progresses and a reminder of your prayer day.
- You only commitment is to take a moment to pray in a special way on your “prayer day” for the listed intentions. The prayer can be an Our Father/Hail Mary, a Rosary, a Mass offering, an Hour of Adoration, or a favorite Devotion or Prayer from your heart. Wishing you a Lenten Season filled with peace and grace.
SOUP & STATIONS will take place on Friday March 15th from 6 – 8pm. The Liturgy Committee and members of SVdP will provide a variety of delicious soups at 6.30pm. From 6 to 6.30pm we will meet in the Church to meditate on the last hours of Jesus’ life and how we can unite our sacrifice and service with His service. All are welcome
ABSTINENCE FROM MEAT: Catholics over 14 years of age are bound to the obligation of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent. On days of abstinence, meat may not be used at all. Fast Catholics over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the days of fasting. On these days, only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed.
THE MAGNIFICAT LENTEN COMPANION is available for your Lenten journey by providing a series of original, inspiring reflections to guide us through every day of Lent into the heart of the Mystery of Jesus Christ. You will find copies of the Magnificat at the doors of both our churches.
