“… the Creator ‘made them male and female’, and said, ‘for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” Matthew 19:4-5
Matrimony, or Marriage, is a sacrament in which a woman and a man promise to love and be faithful to each other for the rest of their lives. This sacrament of Marriage can take place within a Mass or as a separate ceremony. Mass or Ceremony may be celebrated in St. Julia or St. Joseph Church by a parishioner and his or her intended spouse. Couples plan their marriage with a priest or deacon, wedding coordinator, and music director.
All of the information on the Marriage portion of our site can be downloaded as a handy “Wedding Guide” (currently undergoing updates) , which explains much of the process of preparing for your wedding, including a listing of Marriage Preparation courses in the Archdiocese of Boston. Here you can also find out about Reading Selections, and fill out the Marriage Form for the wedding itself.
To ensure adequate preparation and scheduling for this sacrament, notification and initial arrangements should be made at least six months prior to the celebration. Contact the Parish Office (781.899.2611) as a first step.
