Missionaries’ Annual Visit to St. Julia Parish
August 22 – 23 at Masses
Fr. Jim Duffy SM (Society of Mary – Marist Fathers and Brothers) and Sr. Georgeanne Donovan SMSM (Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary) will be visiting St. Julia Parish in Weston and Lincoln on the weekend of August 22 and 23 for our participation in the Pontifical Mission Societies of Boston’s Mission Cooperative Plan.
Fr. Jim and Sr. Georgeanne will help us learn more about the many needs of the growing mission Church. Their visit will help unite us with the Universal Church and increase our mission awareness. We will have an opportunity to support their work with our prayers and financial resources. There will be a second collection
Since 1836, Marist Fathers and Brothers have committed themselves to the missions in the southwestern Pacific. Since that time, the Marists have expanded into areas in Africa, Asia, South America, and Turkey. Today there are nearly 230 priests and brothers in the Society.
The Marist Missionary Sisters come from many different countries and language groups. They are sent to those who do not know Christ, to those who are seeking to know Him, or to local churches in need of missionary service. The Sisters are engaged in missionary activity in 23 different countries of Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Pacific.
