St. Julia Parish invites you to Our Lenten Observance: Soups + Stations
Friday, April 11 @ 5:30PM
Please join our parish community for this Lenten devotion and meal for families.
We will start @5:30pm in St. Julia Church to meditate on the last hours of Jesus’ life and how we can unite our sacrifice and service with His service by praying the Stations of the Cross. This will be followed by an assortment of meatless soups offered in the Parish Hall. All are welcome!
Please sign-up at the back of either St. Julia or St. Joseph churches, and if you can bring a soup!
LENTEN PRACTICE OF ABSTINENCE & FASTING FROM MEAT
Catholics over 14 years of age are bound to the obligation of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent. On days of abstinence, meat may not be used at all. Catholics over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to the obligation of fasting. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are the days of fasting. On these days, only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed.
