Faith Formation is the process of making the baptized into true Disciples of Christ – this is a process that takes every day of our lives! A Disciple is fully formed through Learning about their Faith (religious education classes), Spending time with God (Sunday Mass and the Sacraments), and Living out their faith in their daily activities (how to deal with the situations of life as a Christian: It is a cycle of Faith…Worship…Life. The end goal is to not just know about God, but to personally know God. This is a life-long process – the Faith Formation Team is a tool to help you and your child become the best Christian Disciple possible, but the commitment to be successful is up to each individual student!
We will be using the Sadlier Curriculum Series “We Believe” for Grades 1-5. Grade 6 will be working directly with the Bible, as well with the DVD series “Drive-thru History: The Bible/The Gospels”. Each Grade level will be expected to participate in ministry of an assigned Sunday Mass once a year, followed up by a Family Gathering celebrating a particular learning goal: Grade 1 – Church Tour; Grade 2 – the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist; Grade 3 – The Saints; Grade 4 – The Ten Commandments; Grade 5 – T he Seven Sacraments; and Graded 6 – The Sacred Scriptures. The service aspect of Faith Formation will be determined each year.
At this time, the Archdiocese of Boston has given us permission to hold classes in person again this Fall. We will be following any mandates they give us as far as number of children in each class, as well as any social distancing and masking mandates. Home schooling options will be available for children in Grades 1-6. Anyone registered for Faith Formation also has the option to continue with the Project Nazareth Series.
Parents are always the primary teacher of our Faith – you are blessed with the presence of your children for far more time than any other human being! This task can feel overwhelming for many parents, so the Faith Formation staff is present to assist parents in any manner. Please visit our FAMILY PAGE, contact us with any question or concern you may have. Let this disciple-making process of you and your family be a wonderful experience!
