Archdiocesan Liaison & Spiritual Director for Homeschooling Families
With the advent of Covid-19 and the uncertainty of the upcoming school year, many parents are discerning whether to switch to homeschooling. Attached are several resources to review if you are thinking that this may be a good option for your family. As a parent you may be asking, “Can we handle homeschooling?” “How does one get started?” “Is there any support?” “Will my child become too isolated?”
These are all good questions to consider. Please know that there is a strong and established support system for families that homeschool right here in the Boston Archdiocese. Catholic Homeschoolers in Massachusetts East (CHIME), was started by a group of families 25 years ago in the Archdiocese to provide support and encouragement spiritually, academically, and socially.
Over these years CHIME has offered many types of activities for families including monthly Masses, support network, an academic co-op, field trips and much more. CHIME provides a wealth of experience from long-term homeschooling families, as well as opportunities for faithful Catholic families to build solid friendships for both children and parents. Thinking about Homeschooling but not sure you can five days a week? Would a hybrid model work for your Catholic family?
Regina Caeli Academy (‘RCA’) is a private, independent University-Style Hybrid™ academy operating in the Catholic classical tradition for pre-schoolers through 12th grade. Now in its second year here in the Archdiocese of Boston, families bring their children to two days of classroom instruction and activities, then homeschool their children the other three days. RCA is hosted at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, Dedham. Families can learn more by going to their website.
