IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO PARENTS OF STUDENTS IN GRADE 7 – HIGH SCHOOL
Cardinal Sean O’Malley announced (in Jan. 2024), that the Archdiocese of Boston is changing its confirmation age from 10th grade to 8th grade, to achieve the goal of strengthening young people’s ties to the church.
St. Julia parish will implement this change for this year’s 2024-2025 Faith Formation Program. The Confirmation Preparation is a two-year program of study and service, starting in 7th grade. Current 8th grade students will also attend confirmation classes, participate in a retreat, and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 14th, 2025.
Students in High School, who attended faith formation classes last year, are only required to participate in service projects, the confirmation retreat, and will also receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in May.
We will be using a new curriculum called Chosen, by Ascension Press, for the Confirmation Prep Program. It has been used in other parishes and was found to be an engaging, relevant, and inspiring curriculum for this age-group.
Registration for Confirmation Preparation are available online. (See above links. Register now – spots are filling up!)
