Readings for the First Sunday of Advent
On Sunday, November 28th, we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent. We are now in the part of our Liturgical year when we spend time in self-evaluation – as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Messiah, we prepare ourselves for that day when Jesus Christ returns to earth to claim his kingdom. During these four Sundays of Advent, we will hear in the scriptures what we should be improving on; how we should be acting as Christians, as true disciples of Jesus. It’s a good time to start making those New Year’s Resolutions – forget about losing weight or making more money – focus on the things that matter to God, such as “abounding in love for one another and for all”. Be ready! Be vigilant! Our Lord is coming!
