A note from the Youth Formation Director:
It was with great sadness that I heard from some of you about the passing of McCrae Williams last week. His family are members of the Weston community and this news hits home deeply. In times like these, it is important to support one another. In Christian charity, we must pray for McCrae and commend his soul into heaven. We must pray for his family, friends, and all of us, as we deal with the grief and the shock. It can be very difficult to see God’s hand in something which seems such a tragedy, but Jesus wants to walk with us in our sorrow. One of my fa-vorite verses is the shortest found in the whole Bible: “Jesus wept.” John 11:35 He wept for the death of his dear friend, Lazarus, just minutes before He raised him from the dead. Our sorrow is just, but it must always be filled with hope.
So I offer this prayer to say for McCrae, and I remind you that in any time of trial, our church is open for prayer, and you are warmly invited to reach out to Fr. Mark, or to myself, and we will be happy to pray with you, “for I am convinced that neither death, nor life… nor anything else in all creation will be able to sepa-rate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39)
All–powerful and merciful God, we commend to you McCrae, your servant. In your mercy and love, blot out the sins he has committed through human weak-ness. In this world he has died: let him live with you forever. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
