Religious Education Registration

Every family must register for the Religious Education program in person. Registration for the 2009-2010 year will be done at the following dates and times:

WednesdaySeptember 2from 10:00 to 12:00 and 5:00 to 7:00
ThursdaySeptember 3from 10:00 to 12:00 and 3:00 to 5:00
TuesdaySeptember 8from 10:00 to 12:00 and 3:00 to 5:00
WednesdaySeptember 9from 10:00 to 12:00 and 5:00 to 7:00
ThursdaySeptember 10from 3:00 to 5:00
SundaySeptember 13from 8:30 to 9:30 and at the Parish Picnic

Please note that after Sunday, September 13 we cannot guarantee that we will have space or a catechist for the grade, day and time of your choice. We will make every effort to accommodate those families who have just moved into the parish. No registrations will be accepted after classes begin.

This year, parents must register their children in person. Parents should not send a surrogate to register a child. Please allow about twenty minutes for registration. Why? This allows us to:

•  Invite families to a deeper participation in the life of the parish.
•  Describe the program and the expectations for both parents and students.
•  Hand every parent a Parent Handbook, Religious Education year calendar, guidelines for preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, Confirmation Preparation Brochure.
•  Recruit new catechists, volunteers and snack providers.
•  Encourage every family to be involved in the program in some active way.
•  Collect accurate information for our Religious Education data base. •  Answer questions.

Please spread the word among your friends so that every family will be registered, every child will have a catechist, and our program can open smoothly. Our goal is to support every family in their faith journey with their children as they strive for full, active, and conscious participation in the life of the Church and the parish.

We ask that a copy of each student's Baptismal certificate be kept in the office because the Archdiocese of Boston requires certification of Baptism before receiving the other sacraments. Please contact the parish where your child was baptized to obtain a copy for us, or to have a copy faxed to us (781-899-8046).

If your child attends the Weston Public Schools and is registered for the Monday or Tuesday classes, the school bus will drop off your child at the parish center. Please remember to send in a note, or a St. Julia Bus Permission slip with your child each time he or she is to attend CRE classes giving permission to the bus driver to drop off your child at St. Julia. You do not have to indicate the bus number - the bus office coordinates which buses go to the church for the Monday and Tuesday classes.

Confirmation Program
Students in High School will enter a Confirmation program that will often take two years but can be completed in less or more time. The levels of the program are not by grade, and will be called First and Second Year Confirmation. In the Fall a meeting will be held for parents and students for those entering the Confirmation Program.

The overnight Confirmation retreat, for all 10th grade students, calls for a separate registration and an additional fee of approximately $150 to cover the cost of transportation and accommodations. This registration will be processed for those students shortly before the retreat. If these fees represent a financial hardship, please contact the office.

A Note on Attendance

Because we hope that signing up your child for religious education is a priority in your family, attendance at all the classes as listed on the calendar is expected of all our Religious Education students.

If your child will be absent from class, we request that you please call the Religious Education office to let us know. This request is particularly important for the Monday and Tuesday class students as we wish to assure the safe arrival of every student. For the Monday classes in Lincoln, and for the Sunday classes, we ask that you call the individual catechists to let them know of your child's absence. If you cannot reach the catechist, please call the Religious Education office to leave a message.

Cancellations Due to the Weather

The Religious Education Office follows the snow cancellation policy of the Weston Public Schools and the Lincoln Public Schools for the Monday and Tuesday classes. If Weston and Lincoln Public Schools cancel after school activities, Religious Education classes wil be cancelled also. Cancellation notice of the Sunday classes will be made on the following:
