Program News: Weekend of March 13/14

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Classes are in session for all grades this week.

Don’'t Miss Frank Runyeon -
Space Is Limited!

The deadline for our spring Generations of Faith program - Frank Runyeon and his one-man show, The Sermon on the Mount followed by Hollywood vs. Faith is fast approaching. Don't let your family miss out on this unique entertainment and religious experience. The show will run twice, at 12:15 pm and 6:00 pm, on Sunday, April 11. All parishioners are invited. Children will attend the whole show with their parents since there will be no children's break-out sessions. Space is limited! Register on the parish website by March 25.

REMINDERS

GRADES 7 AND 8
Students will have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacra- ment of Reconciliation this week during class. Please, please, please make sure your child is in class by 6:00 pm! Our program begins promptly at 6:00 and students who straggle in late disrupt the program for everyone.

FIRST EUCHARIST WORKSHOP - STUDENTS AND PARENTS
Our First Eucharist Workshop will run twice to accommodate families' busy schedules. Parents and children must attend the entire workshop on Saturday, March 13 or March 27, from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. This fun and informative day includes a pot luck lunch, banner making, Church search, video, stories and songs.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION PROGRAM
Mini-courses continue this Sunday. Please report to the same class you began last week.

SOUP AND STATIONS
SOUP AND STATIONS will be March 19th at 6pm in St. Julia Church. For those in the Confirmation program this is a "one time event" you could choose to go towards your Confirmation preparation. Look for the details on the events page or in the bulletin.

EASTER BASKET PROJECT 2010

Bristol Lodge distributes our donations to needy families in the area. We hope ALL PARISHIONERS will help acquire items needed to fill the gift baskets. If you do not have a child in the Religious Education Program, and would like to contribute to this project, we would appreciate receiving: plastic Easter grass, stickers, and/or monetary donations [can be given to Jean Pelletier or Anne Marie Mahoney]. Some of the other requested items, also appreciated, are:

Grade 2 - foil wrapped chocolate eggs
Grade 3 - SMALL 9 - 12 oz. bags of jelly beans
Grade 4 - SMALL INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED Peeps
Grade 5 - 4oz. Bottles of bubbles with wands (6-packs)

All donations are due by Tuesday, March 30 to Parish Center lobby or St. Joseph Church (near literature rack). Questions: call Jean Pelletier, 781-899-0739.

Catechists and Volunteers

See How to Become a Catechist for more information and to hear how current and former teachers have enjoyed this experience. Please call the Religious Education Office at 781-899-4734 or 781-899-8434.

Please consider volunteering for the Religious Education Program. There are many opportunities and your help will strengthen our program for our children. Please see Volunteer Ministries form for more information.

Teaching / Mentoring in the Confirmation Program: Would you like to find out about assisting in these ways? Contact Fr. Evans or Anne Marie Mahoney for more information.

Children's Liturgy of the Word: This has become a popular program in our parish. The number of children attending has increased every year. We now run the risk of not having enough adult volunteers to effectively run this program. Can you give some time to the Children's Liturgy? If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cathy Capizzi, Religious Education Office, 781-899-4734.

See the Youth Group for more opportunities.

Service Hours are available at the Religious Education Office. Interested students should call Anne Marie or Connie at 781-899-8434 or 781-899-4734.

Grade Coordinators are needed for Grades K-6. Please contact Anne Marie at 781-899-8434 or by email.

Catechist and all volunteers of St. Julia Parish must complete VIRTUS a "Child Protection" session in order to be involved as a volunteer in this Parish. This is a one-time 2 & 1/2 hour session and does not need to be repeated. Please contact the Religious Education office for information about upcoming CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING (CAP).

What is VIRTUS training? How does it work?
Maximizing a church's role as a child-safe environment begins with making adults more aware of the ways children and adults interact with each other. The PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN program educates and trains adults (clergy, religious, teachers, staff, volunteers, and parents) about the dangers of abuse, the warning signs of abuse, the ways to prevent abuse, the methods of properly reporting suspicions of abuse, and responding to allegations of abuse. St. Julia Parish has a distinguished group of CAP trainers (Child Abuse Prevention) who train volunteers. The CAP trainers (parishioners) are, Nancy Dunn, Kathleen Logan-Prince and Anna Pollock.
