St. Julia Thrift Shop
St. Julia Thrift Shop Closing
After 45 years, the St. Julia Thrift Shop closed on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 in preparation for the planned renovations in the Church. The women who have staffed the Thrift Shop over so many years deserve a great deal of credit for all the time, energy and resources they have put into making this venture so successful for the parish but also for the many patrons who shopped there over the years. From humble beginnings in the parish garage on summer mornings the Thrift Shop grew to two days a week, October to June, in the Church basement. During its final sale days, it served several Vincent DePaul clients from both this parish and St. Mary in Waltham. We are both proud and very grateful to Pat Sennott and her core group of volunteers: Clare Cappello, Cecile Benotti, Theresa Clair, Phyllis Campbell, Rita Sullivan, Terry Whalen, Nancy Cronin, Mary Barrett, Anette Byderkarten and Charleen Kasper for their service this past year. The total contributed to the parish over 45 years is $582, 188!! The total given to the poor in services and goods in incalculable! We hope the Thrift Shop can reopen in some form after the renovation.
Most recently, the Community Newspape's June edition of "Readers' Choice" awards touted St. Julia Thrift Shop with an Honorable Mention. Kudos!
