Special Committees
There are several standing committes in our parish that coordinate the many logistics involved in maintaining a vibrant community and beautiful facilities. New members are always most welcome.
St. Julia Church Renovation Committee
Father Evans convened a committee in September, 2006, to assess the need for interior restoration and renewal of St. Julia Church. Planning and prioritization of the specific elements of the proposed interior renovation have been proposed which reflect the liturgical guidelines set forth in the National Conference of Catholic Bishops' document, Built of Living Stones. The interior of the church has not been renewed appreciably since the addition in 1961, and there is much that needs to be refreshed as well as liturgically renewed with respect to the sanctuary, the gathering place at the rear of the church and the interior finishes. Improvements to the lighting inside the church and to the sound system are especially needed. Refurbishing the pews and kneelers, and adding air conditioning will also be considered.
Exterior repairs and renovations will likely be part of the plan, and have been specifically identified in a report by an engineering firm completed in February, 2007. This report was commissioned after we found leaking in the rear vestibule and in the sacristy. The repairs listed in this report must be attended to soon, before further, more costly deterioration occurs.
The Renovation Committee has presented to the parish possible ideas for the interior renewal of the church on 3 separate occasions. The exterior needs will be presented shortly, as will the cost estimates for both the interior and exterior work needing to be done. As of August, 2007, the parish secured the services of architect Martin Dermady (one of our parishioners) to work with the Committee to prepare a feasibility study for interior and exterior renovations to St. Julia Church. The study, including cost estimates, is expected to be completed by December, 2007.
The latest news about the Renovation Committee's progress can be read on the Renovation Blog.

Landscape Committee
Beautiful surroundings enhance the overall experience our parishioners enjoy when they come to Mass and other events in our parish. With churches in Weston and Lincoln there is always ongoing planning and caring for the grounds. We gather in the spring to plant around the churches, over the summer to water and tend the gardens, and in the fall to plant and prepare the beds for winter. If you have time, talent, or treasure to help us in this effort, please contact Janice Carroll Hammond. Many hands make light work - and pleasant company!
