Reflecting on John 6:22-58, commonly known as the “Bread of Life Discourse:”
“The crowd that Jesus miraculously fed followed him through the night because they wanted to make him King. This desire for his leadership did not extend beyond their desire to heal their illnesses and satisfy their hunger. This group did not realize that the world is fed by the love of God and the food they received symbolized this love. Our efforts at service, teaching, sacrifice and personal example are other ways we can share this love. So feeding homeless men and women in Boston won’t solve all problems but will provide an opportunity to symbolically share the love by which all the world is fed.” – Colm McGarry
