January 28: Grade 4 Mass and Family Gathering— the children in Grade 4 will be presenting their posters on the Ten Commandments at the 9:00 Family Mass. Following the Mass the students, and at least one parent, will attend Café Julia together, and then meet in the Parish Center Hall for a Family Gathering, learning more about the Ten Command-ments. As this is part of their curriculum, all Grade 4 students are expected to attend. Attendance will be taken.
Did you know……today, January 7, the Church cele-brates the “Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord”. The word Epiphany comes from the Greek word epipha-nia, referring to the visit of a god to earth. Epiphany is also known as “Little Christmas”. This celebration reminds us, as does Christmas day, that God came to earth as a human being, in the simplest of human being forms—a tiny, helpless baby!
In the Gospel, we hear of the wise men who believed in the prophecies of the greatest of all kings to be born, and traveled from afar to honor the new king. These wise men were not Jews, but were Gentiles. The Gospel reading tells us that Jesus did not come to just save his Jewish family and friends, but to save every human being on the earth, no matter what faith or nation they came from.
Parents—be sure that you have put all of your child’s grade level events on your 2018 calendar! The children and at least on parent are expected to participate in the Café Julia and Family Gathering moments! Children preparing to receive the Sacra-ments MUST attend the workshops!
