Did you know……that in today’s Gospel,
the first four Apostles called by
Jesus to follow him were all fishermen.
That was the primary source of income
for the people of Capernaum,
since they lived right on the Sea of Galilee (which
really isn’t a sea—today we would compare it to a
great lake. It is fresh water. ) What is interesting in
this story is that all four men stopped what they
were doing, and just got up and obeyed Jesus. That’s
what all of us are suppose to do. If we hear God calling
us to do something—help someone in some
manner—then we are to stop whatever it is we are
doing, and go help them.
This isn’t easy. Often we want to do what we want
to do, not what God wants us to do. But to imitate
Jesus fully, we are to obey God immediately.
Can you try to do this for one day, and see how your
life, and the lives of the people around, change into
Parents—be sure that you have put all of your
child’s grade level events on your 2018 calendar!
The children and at least on parent are expected to
participate in the Café Julia and Family Gathering
moments! Children preparing to receive the Sacraments
MUST attend the workshops!
